Who We Are

What makes a recipe worth sharing is ultimately delicious food, but it’s also a million little things along the way. It’s the unique things we do, and reasons why we do them, when we take a recipe and make it our own that turn it into something special. The stories behind the food - that’s what we love. We’re excited to bring you some of our own recipes, and thrilled to celebrate some from others along the way!

...every ordinary recipe tells a unique story...

At Viddy & Dot we believe that every ordinary recipe tells a unique story. We encourage you to try these recipes, give them your own spin, and feel inspired to share the special recipes you create, and love, with others. We are story tellers and every day amateur cooks who believe that everyone has meaningful recipes inside of them, whether perfectly created and stashed away in their back pocket, or thrown together in a fit of cravings. These recipes are worth sharing. Because every recipe tells a story.

Cheryl Brown

Founder and Owner of Viddy & Dot

My life long love for food and cooking comes from the memories and stories attached to it. On one hand, I’m an amateur cook/baker since I was little- with hours of intense training via the food network channel and cookbook obsessions. I started cooking and experimenting in the kitchen when I was in Jr. High- and Ive never looked back. On the other hand, I’m a theater major with a love for stories and a library of plays and show tunes I keep quietly tucked away for “me time”. Somehow, over the years these two passions have come together, and with the encouragement of my husband, a long dream of launching Viddy & Dot is being realized. My goal is to share recipes that celebrate good food, great people and meaningful stories.

Viddy & Dot is my ode to family, friends and strangers who have fed me, taught me and left an impression on me through a good time and good food. It’s inspired by both of my grandmothers (Viddy and Dot) who told me I was good at something, and encouraged me to keep going.

This is a passion project for me, and I hope you enjoy it.
